Battery Optimization for AuraLock: Keep Your Focus App Running

How to configure Android battery optimization so AuraLock can protect your focus reliably — with the exact path for Samsung, Xiaomi, Oppo, vivo, Huawei, Tecno, and Pixel.

What is battery optimization?

Android manages battery life aggressively by restricting background apps. This saves battery, but it can prevent AuraLock from enforcing your focus boundaries.

Why AuraLock needs an exception

AuraLock must run in the background to:

  • Monitor which apps you open
  • Enforce your Aura boundaries
  • Maintain your session timer
  • Trigger scheduled Auras and AuraWake alarms

Do not disable globally

Only exempt AuraLock. Keep battery optimization enabled for other apps.

How to exempt AuraLock on your phone

Stock Android hides this behind Apps → AuraLock → Battery, but every manufacturer adds its own layer — MIUI's App battery saver, ColorOS' App battery management, EMUI's App launch. Pick your phone below for the exact path.

Pick your phone

Battery: No Restrictions

Optional

Keeps AuraLock alive in the background so your Aura never silently ends early. On MIUI, ColorOS, Funtouch, EMUI, and HiOS this decides whether scheduled sessions fire at all.

In AuraLock: open Settings → Permissions and tap this permission — the button reads “Open Settings”. It opens this exact screen on your phone.

Xiaomi · MIUI / HyperOS

  1. 1 Open Settings → Battery
  2. 2 Tap “App battery saver” (HyperOS: “Battery optimization”)
  3. 3 Tap AuraLock
  4. 4 Choose “No restrictions”

Also allow on this phone

  • Turn OFF “Battery saver” while you use long Auras

Battery is not the whole story

On MIUI, ColorOS, Funtouch, EMUI, and HiOS you must also allow auto-start and background activity. Battery alone is not enough for a long session on those phones.

How to verify

Run Guardian after making changes. Then start an Aura and confirm it is still active after several minutes of using other apps.
