FAQ
Frequently asked questions about AuraLock, permissions, and intentional phone use.
Quick answers to common questions about AuraLock.
Is AuraLock free?
Yes. AuraLock is free to download and use. Core features are available at no cost. These include Aura creation, Standard and Strict modes, and scheduling. Premium adds unlimited domain blocking, longer sessions, and deeper insights.
Does AuraLock work offline?
Yes. AuraLock operates entirely on your device. No internet connection is required to create or use Auras.
Does AuraLock collect my data?
No. AuraLock does not collect, transmit, or store your usage data. All information stays on your device. This includes sessions, whitelists, schedules, and journal entries.
Can I use AuraLock on iPhone?
No. AuraLock is built specifically for Android due to the system-level permissions required for focus enforcement.
Does AuraLock work on tablets and foldables?
Yes. AuraLock adapts to large screens with a two-column layout and reflows gracefully on foldables. Setup is the same as on a phone. See our tablets & foldables guide.
What Android version do I need?
Android 8.0 (API level 26) or higher. Some features may vary on older versions.
Why does AuraLock need so many permissions?
Each permission serves a specific purpose for protecting your focus. We explain every permission in our permissions documentation. AuraLock only requests what is essential.
Will AuraLock drain my battery?
AuraLock is designed to be lightweight. Background monitoring uses minimal resources. Exempting it from battery optimization is necessary for reliable operation.
Can I block websites too?
Yes. Domain Block extends your boundary from apps to the web. While an Aura runs, opening a blocked domain in any browser shows the boundary screen. The free plan includes 3 blocked domains.
Can I make emergency calls during an Aura?
Yes. Essential system functions including emergency calls remain accessible during both Standard and Strict Auras.
What happens if I uninstall AuraLock?
Your phone returns to normal operation immediately. No traces remain. Your data is never uploaded.
How is Strict different from Standard?
Strict Aura creates stronger boundaries with additional confirmation steps for ending early. Standard Aura offers more flexibility. See our detailed comparison.
Can I schedule multiple Auras?
Yes. You can create schedules for different Auras on different days and times, using templates like Deep Work Mornings or Evening Wind-Down.
Does AuraLock track goals and streaks?
Yes. You can set a daily focus goal, track your streak, journal sessions with mood tags, and review weekly insights. All of this data stays on your device.
Why does my manufacturer matter?
Android manufacturers customize battery management and background behavior differently. See our device documentation for Samsung, Xiaomi, OnePlus, Pixel, and more.
